100 years of history

Abraamas Fialko (Vilnius) – a merchant and one of the most significant postcard publishers of the early 20th century. He owned a wholesale postcard warehouse as well as a shop selling writing supplies and albums.
On September 29, 1902, A. Fialko received permission to open a picture postcard warehouse and engage in postcard publishing. He published postcards and small albums featuring views of Vilnius, Lentvaris, Trakai, Belarus, and other cities. A. Fialko was one of the largest publishers of Vilnius-view postcards: between 1902 and 1915 he issued nearly 1,000 postcards, most often using photographs by S. F. Fleury. His postcard publishing continued until 1940. Postcards published by A. Fialko bear the Russian inscription “A. Фиалко”, and the publisher’s mark is A. F. W.
